What, no fishing in the swimming area!?

My kids love fishing. They could do it for hours. Whether they catch anything or not is another story! It's about the journey not the destination I guess.

The other day we were at the Clubhouse fishing. A couple other families were fishing, too. It was nice to have some company :)

Jen made her way across the lake on her paddle board. When she arrived, she let us know that there was no fishing in the swimming area. "Why?" I asked.

Jen explained that volunteers had been doing a lot of work raking the sand under the water, preparing for swimming. She explained that they already found a good amount of hooks and that would be very unsafe for swimmers.

Duh! Even me, a Board member, didn't think this through. My personal fun was outweighing common sense for the community. I'm so glad Jen said something to me.

So, this is a general reminder - no fishing in the swimming area! We thank you for your help making sure everyone stays safe.

There are plenty of other places to fish at the lake. If you're looking at the Clubhouse from Telemark Road, you can fish anywhere to the left of the waterfall. There's a handy map below with fishing areas (and other points of interest).

And, in case you didn't know, there are actually a good amount of fish in the lake - sunnies, bass, pickerel, and catfish to name a few. They are there naturally. We do not stock the lake. Pretty neat!

So much to do and check out at the lake!
